This carved figurative study depicts a lady which seems to be emerging from a story book titled Oe'r the Hill and Far Away (just an imaginary title). It's meant to suggest how the characters of a book can seem to come alive to a reader. There is a picture of a castle burned into the book page on the right and a peasant hut on the facing page.

This carving won first place in the 3-D category at the 1999 Pennyroyal Juried Art Exhibition in Hopkinsville, KY

This figurative study depicts a seated lady pulling with both hands against a hidden, undefined force. It has been in four juried art shows and won awards in three of them as follows - (1.) first place in the 3-D category at the 2003 Pennyroyal Art Exhibit in Hopkinsville, KY (2.) The Casey Schott Memorial Award at the 2003 All Kentucky Juried Fine Art Exhibition at the Capitol Arts Gallery in Bowling Green, KY (3.) Sculpture, Professional First Place at the U.S. Bank Celebration of the Arts 2004 Open Art Exhibition at the Kentucky Museum in Bowling Green, KY and (4.) acceptance in the 39th Annual Central South Art Exhibition 2004 at the Leu Center For The Visual Arts in Nashville, TN.
